Mikaela represents clients charged with a range of criminal offences in Toronto. She accepts Legal Aid clients.
Mikaela has continued to work closely with Stephen Hebscher following her articling experience in his office. She has experience working on a variety of charges, specifically sexual assault, online sexual offences and cases involving mental health issues. She has worked alongside Stephen Hebscher on multiple trials involving sexual offences and assisted in complex pre-trial motions.
Mikaela is an advocate who provides thoughtful representation for her clients. She understands that this is a uniquely stressful time in her clients’ lives. She is mindful that criminal allegations can have an impact on multiple areas of someone’s life including their mental health, their work and their personal lives.
Mikaela has a Masters of Law from the University of Ottawa where she focused her research on the criminalization of HIV non-disclosure and the use of antiretroviral therapy. Mikaela has a Bachelor of Law from the Leeds and completed her National Committee of Accreditation Certificate. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Philosophy and English from the University of Toronto.
Mikaela is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Criminal Lawyers Association. She is also a Board Member at CAYR Community Connections, an organization that services people living with and at risk of HIV/AIDS.
